Strengthening the family economy

Humana´s ideea of a Child Aid/Community Development Project is based on 8 lines, the first of them is strengthening the family economy, as once the families have a secure income generation source, they can give more thought and care to other aspects of their life such as health and education.
Promoting improved farming methods is one of the methods Humana uses to strengthen the income generating activities of the rural families. Apart from that, families are mobilized and supported to create organic vegetable gardens, both for own consumption and for selling at the local markets and at the Family Agriculture Fairs that Humana Brasil organizes with local partners. Small farmers are offered micro credits in a circular system, meaning that once they obtained self-sustainability, they return the credit in order for another small farmer to benefit from it to start and income generating activity. Humana facilitates the contact of these small farmers with governmental programs meant to support family productive associations. Humana Brasil also offers technical support in organizing family budgets.
