The Association Humana People to People was founded in Brazil in May of 2007 and it is registered as a non-profit association and qualified as an Organization of Public Interest of the Civil Society since January 2008. Humana People to People Brazil is one of the association afiliated to the International Humana People to People Movement. Humana People to People was born out of the wish to contribute to the fight against colonialism and apartheid at the end of 1970s. With the end on apartheid in 1994, it became clear that the fight for development shoulder to shoulder with the people in need was the natural continuation of the fight agains colonialism and apartheid. The founders of Humana Brazil created the entity to participate in the fights against poverty and the inhuman circumstances in which many people live. Even if the unequality in our country is diminishing during these last years, there are still regions with a deficient social, economical and cultural development. It is important to underline that the Northeast area of Brazil continues to be the largest poverty affected area in Latin America. Humana Brazil is currently developing projects in the state of Bahia, in municipalities with Low Human Development Index. Our projects cover the following lines of action: strengthening the family economy, food safety, health and nutrition, gender equality&wome empowerment, social inclusion through sport, environmental issues, training and education, children and youth, productive inclusion and technical assistance and rural extension.

Legal information
The Association Humana People Brazil was founded in May of 2007. It is registered as a non-profit association and qualified as an Organization of Public Interest of the Civil Society since January 2008 with the number 08071.012302/2007-83. In december 2008, Humana People to People Brazil was included in the Authorising Law of the state of Bahia that qualifies institutions to receive funds from conventions signed with different sectors of the state sphere.
Humana Brazil is part of the Municipal Council of Social Assistance in Cansancao and of the Municipal Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents in both Cansanção and Quijingue.
