Quijingue is a municipality in the state of Bahia. Its population in2004 was 27,617 inhabitants.
Municipality of the region of Euclides da Cunha, Quijingue was classified by the United Nations (UN) as the second worst city of Bahia in Human Development Index, scoring just 0.526.
The growth of a community in Fazenda Lagoa Grande led to a village with the same name, incorporating the city of Tucano. From the time it was called "Lagoa Grande", the settlement was known throughout the region to perform a lively "forrô" that attracted many visitors. Later, when Antonio Conselheiro was for the area, the community was known as "Triumph" and turned into a District. The city created the territory of the "District of Triumph," was separated from Tucano and transformed into a town, according to the State Law from March 15, 1962, when the Municipality of Quijingue was created.
